Mikhaila "Mikki" Peterson (here played by Rutina Wesley) was in canon Mike Peterson (played by J. August Richards on Agents of SHIELD) and is currently a SHIELD agent on a long sabbatical. After undergoing surgical enhancements provided by Centipede in order to become stronger and therefore more able to provide for herself and her young son Ace, Mikki was found by SHIELD and trained until being captured by members of Centipede and turned into a prototype for their Deathlok program. This involved robotic enhancements, including replacing one eye and one leg. She was forced to work for Centipede until rescued by Phil Coulson's SHIELD team. After this she joined the team as a long-distance operative, a position she held until her capture and torture by Hydra, after which she went on hiatus to be with her son and recuperate.

Deathlok features in the comics, but not Mike Peterson-Deathlok, so this is all show.
